The $1,000 Giveaway Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") begins on April 1, 2003 and all entries must be received by the Sweepstakes conclusion date and time of June 30, 2003 at 11:59 p.m. (Boston Time). You will automatically be entered into the Sweepstakes when you do any of the following: (a) completing the required sign up form to receive one or more free Family Education Network email newsletter(s) (subscribing to more than one newsletter during the Sweepstakes period will not increase your chance of winning; limit of one entry per subscriber), (b) completing either a "Special Offers for Parents" or a "Special Offers for Teachers" newsletter survey (completing each survey will be considered one unique entry per survey, but completing the same survey multiple times will not increase your chance of winning), (c) entering you email address after clicking through the Sweepstakes banner on the PearsonAtSchool.com website (each time you enter your email address during the Sweepstakes period will be considered one unique entry, but you are limited to one entry per day), or (d) signing up for a free trial for these digital products - MyGradeBook or QuizLab (each free-trial sign up will be considered one unique entry, but you are limited to one entry per digital product). Family Education Network ("FEN"), is a division of Pearson Education, Inc. All entries become the exclusive property of FEN and will not be returned. By submitting an entry, the entrant accepts all contest rules and agrees to be bound by them.

Eligibility:
The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. The following persons are not eligible to enter the Sweepstakes: (a) employees and officers of any organizations directly involved with this promotion; (b) employees of FEN, its affiliates and subsidiaries; and (c) immediate family members and persons living in the same household as the persons identified in (a) and (b) above. Only entrants logging onto the Internet from within the United States are eligible to enter the Sweepstakes. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. FEN reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry if it concludes that the entrant has tampered with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or has acted in violation of the official rules or any applicable state, federal, or local laws or regulations.

Prizes:
One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive one thousand dollars ($1,000) in cash. All taxes on prizes and incidental expenses are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes may not be transferred, substituted, or exchanged except by Family Education Network and then only for a prize of equal or greater value.

Winner Selection: One (1) winner will be selected in a single random drawing on July 7, 2003 from all eligible entries received. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Winner Notification: The potential winner will be notified by e-mail and shall be required to sign, notarize and return, within ten (10) days of delivery to his/her address, an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Prize and Publicity Release for the contest winner, unless prohibited by law. Winners must provide their full name and mailing address (the mailing address may not be a PO Box) in their response. Failure to sign and return these forms within the time requested may result in forfeiture of prize and the selection of an alternate winner. No responsibility is assumed for lost, stolen, late or misdirected entries or mail. These materials are void if incomplete, not legible or if they contain errors.

General Conditions:
By entering this Sweepstakes, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of FEN on all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. All entries become the property of FEN and will not be returned to entrant. By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants and winners consent to the use of their names, addresses, likeness, and any statements they make in connection with the Sweepstakes or about FEN in general without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

Limitations Of Liability:
By entering the Sweepstakes, participants agree to release Pearson Education, Inc. and Family Education Network, Inc. and their respective affiliates and subsidiaries, and their employees, agents, and representatives (collectively, "Sponsor Entities") from any and all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to person or property that may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of a prize or with participation in this Sweepstakes. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants agree that no claim relating to such injuries, damages, or losses shall be asserted against any of the Sponsor Entities. Entrants agree that none of the Sponsor Entities shall be liable for any injury or damage to any person's computer hardware, software, or peripherals utilized in participating in the Sweepstakes. None of the Sponsor Entities are responsible for technical, hardware, software, or other communication failures of any kind, whether caused by any of the Sponsor Entities, users, or by any equipment, programming, or other cause, whether or not such failures limit an entrant's ability to participate in the Sweepstakes. If for any reason (including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause that corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes), the Sweepstakes is not capable of being conducted as described in these Official Rules, FEN shall have the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes.

FEN reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds has tampered with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes, or who has acted in violation of these Official Rules or any applicable state, federal, or local laws or regulations, or is acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person.
